Bjork

So sorry I haven't been writing much. Rehearsal really takes a lot out of me so when I get home I just wanna relax. Blogging isn't a really strenuous activity, but still, after rehearsal I kinda turn into a bit of a lazy bum.

Here's a cool video I found recently of Bjork singing All Is Full Of Love. I realize many people think Bjork is an absolute nut but I really really love her. I think she's an incredible talent. Like I've said before, I really respect artists that aren't afraid to be different. And just wait till you hear the crazy ass note she holds out near the end of the song!

I love that song. Here are the lyrics:

you'll be given love
you'll be taken care of
you'll be given love
you have to trust it

maybe not from the sources
you have poured yours
maybe not from the directions
you are staring at

twist your head around
it's all around you
all is full of love
all around you

all is full of love
you just ain't receiving
all is full of love
your phone is off the hook
all is full of love
your doors are all shut
all is full of love!

all is full of love
all is full of love
all is full of love
all is full of love
all is full of love

Nice, right?!

And here she is again.....Madonna. 10 days to go. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is Nobody Knows Me from the Re-Invention Tour.....

Bye!

Liar

My last post said I would write something soon. Ha. Hence the title of this entry.

I've been a touch busy. Paul came back to NYC about three weeks ago and we've been having a blast. A lot of other stuff has happened to keep me busy (some good, some just plain old shitty) so I haven't really had much time to sit myself down and blog. Sorry!

But here I am! Last time I blogged I was in Boston. After that I went back to NYC to finish up at Chelsea Studios, pack up all my crap, and say bye to my friends. I am now in DC where I'm rehearsing for The Kennedy Center's production of The Phantom Tollbooth.

So far I am having an absolute blast. The cast is great, the show is really cute, kids are gonna love it, and I am loving the fact that I get to play a zillion crazy fun characters. It's hard work, though!!! You have to be giving all your energy 100% of the time, especially for kids!!! By the end of a rehearsal day I just wanna lay my tired ass down.....and I do.

Anyway, I'm actually pretty tired right now so I don't really wanna write much. Also, Paul left today and I won't get to see him till December so I'm a little blue.

This cheered me up :)

So did this of course! Only 15 days left till Sticky&Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you all.

Boston

I'm in Boston right now visiting my family. In other words, sorry for not having written regularly like I said I would! I'm heading back to NYC today so I'll be sure to post something substantial (or at least something) when I get back.

Love you all :)

Bye!

Spit

Does anyone remember a few weeks ago when I has having a pretty bad day and a guy almost spat on me as I was walking to work?

Well.....

Yesterday a girl spat on me. Not accidentally. Totally on purpose.

I had just arrived at my building in Washington Heights and was heading to the front door of the building when I noticed a girl on the front stoop. She couldn't have been more than 10 or 11 and she was straight up bawling. Her mom was nearby asking the girl to get up and come to front door but the girl refused, she just kept crying and crying. I noticed then that girl may have had some sort of a mental disorder or something; her mom seemed used to the situation and knew that the girl would eventually get up and come to her. Paul was with me at the time and to be courteous I told him to hold the front door open for the mother and daughter while I called the elevator.

As soon as I pressed the elevator button the girl begrudgingly made her way into the building, wailing the whole time. Paul kept a bit of a safe distance away from the girl since she had started to pound her mother angrily. I, for some strange reason, decided to stay put by the elevator as it made its way down. The girl was having an absolute fit at this point.....and that's when it happened. There was a sudden break in the screaming, and then I heard her spit. It sprayed all over my left side.

The mother, fortunately, had not noticed. I turned to the girl as it trickeled down my arm. She looked absolutely ferocious. She then turned away from me and continued her crying. I decided not to say anything, instead I walked to Paul and mouthed the words, "She just spat on me."

I'm pretty sure he laughed.

The elevator arrived and the mother and daughter got on. I decided to take the stairs.

Anyway! I guess it is pretty funny.

And absolutely gross.

Bye!

P.S.: Ew.

Carmen and Madonna

Hey all, sorry I've been M.I.A. yet again. Paul is back in town so I've been a little busy.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to get back on track with the blog. I have nothing much new to tell you all about aside from the new tour which I mentioned yesterday. I'm pretty excited about blogging on the road, though, cause in a way it'll be like you are all coming with me. And on this tour I'll be going even further than I did on the Willy Wonka tour. I'm going to California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado among other places. I'm even going to Everett, WA! Paul's hometown!!! I can't wait.

And onto a completely different subject.....flamenco. Sitting at work today I got a very random memory. For some strange reason, I began reminiscing about living in Bolivia. And for some even stranger more random reason, I thought about one of my Spanish classes. In that class the teacher showed us Carlos Saura's 1983 film adaptation of the opera Carmen. I can honestly not remember why she found it necessary to show us the movie. I think she even had all of our parents sign permission slips since the movie contains nudity and murder and all sorts of good stuff teenagers wanna watch. Whatever reason she may have had, it was probably really important. The permission slips are hardly what are important now; what's important is that years and years later the film has somehow eased it's way forward in my mind and I feel compelled to share a bit of it with you.

This is the opening scene of the film. If it isn't the opening scene, then it's really near the beginning. I remember watching this scene and being absolutely amazed and fascinated. Unfortunately, mostly everyone in the class (most of the boys anyway) thought it was incredibly lame. For some inexcusable reason I felt forced to agree with the boys and scoff at the amazingness I was witnessing. Instead of arias and ridiculous waves of vibrato, though, the director decided to use flamenco dancing. Fabulous idea. The dancers are actually rehearsing for their own production of Carmen in the scene. It works brilliantly. Watch!

I.Love.It.

And now for something completely different. A New York City moment! I was walking with Paul through Central Park yesterday trying to find some friends. After walking around for awhile and getting all sweaty and gross we decided it was time to call it a day and head home. We hadn't found our friends, it was hot, I was tired.....it was time to go. On our way out of the park we passed by a bunch of runners and cyclists. All of a sudden, among the sounds of running feet and whirring wheels we heard the sound of a distant soprano. WHAT? The source of the aria came into view a moment later. She was dressed in running gear, headphones on (blasting some sort of opera, I guess), and fully singing an aria.....during her run. What made it even better was the fact that she happened to be a pretty busty lady and she was fully aware and proud of this fact. Her girls were out and about, waving hello, and chatting up everyone around them. Paul said her boobs were a-flappin'.....I say she had ba-boo-ba-boo-ba-boobs. My goodness, we're nuts. Only in New York.

And here's some Madonna for good measure. 32 days till I get some Sticky&Sweetness! For those of you who don't really like Madonna or don't really understand my appreciation for her, I really recommend you watch the following video. It is, in my opinion, one of her most understated and honest performances. And there's no boobs or butts or anything like that! The song is called Mother and Father.....

The Phantom Tollbooth

Alright everyone, I've got a little announcement to make.

I'm going back on tour! I've been auditioning my ass off recently and, unfortunately, Broadway did not come calling. The Kennedy Center did, though! Again! I'll be going on tour from October to April in a production of The Phantom Tollbooth.

I'll be playing an assortment of different characters such as the Mathmagician, a Lethargarian (huh?), an adverb seller, and all sorts of other crazy folks. It's a kids show so if I happen to see some of you on tour I promise I won't force you to come see it.....but I would love to get together if possible :)

Alright. That's that. Love you all. Bye!
